The Truth About Shaving Razor Bumps

It is estimated that four out of five black people and one in four Caucasians suffer from shaving/razor bumps also known as pseudofolliculits barbae.  Worldwide sufferers are in the hundreds of millions.  Over the years there have been remedies put out to deal with this problem which can be painful, disfiguring and embarrassing. Many sufferers have ended up giving up shaving altogether with career-limiting and social consequences.  For example professions that require the wearing of breathing masks are closed to men who are not able to get a clean shave.

Many remedies offered to deal with razor bumps do not work simply because of the wrong assumptions about the way bumps are formed and develop in the first place.  It is still widely assumed that razor bumps are formed when wiry, curly hair, like afro hair, cut during shaving re-grow, curl back and pierce the skin.  The hair is then thought to re-enter, and to continue to grow under, the skin.  A bump is thought to form at the point where the hair re-enters the skin.

A few years ago, Breej Technologies Inc., a US company engaged in research in Personal Care and Pharmaceutical products and Biotechnology, in collaboration with similar companies in the US, France, Italy and Switzerland decided to take a more detailed and scientific look at the razor bumps problem.  The scientists found that these bumps are the result of the skin reacting to the trauma of shaving.  This trauma is manifested as irritation, inflammation and swelling of the shaved area.  Damaged melanin cells also react to aggravate the inflammation.  That is why people of colour suffer more from shaving bumps than those with lighter skin.  Hypersensitivity to shaving materials and equipments adds to the inflammation too.

Sufferers often use specially designed tweezers to poke at these bumps in an attempt to free and pull out the in growing hairs. This action often introduces more infection to make the situation worse.

Armed with information gathered from their meticulous research Breej Technologies Inc. went on to develop a line of products which have proved very effective in quickly treating and preventing razor bumps no matter their severity.  These products are the result of the synergistic combination of technology and natural ingredients renowned for their skin-soothing, inflammation-reducing, anti-bacterial and healing properties.  They include lavender tea tree oil, sandalwood oil, copaiba and alpha bisabolol; andiroba oil, extracts of pau d’arco and neem; salnacedin and extracts of cucumber and lemon to name a few.  The range includes products that clear the skin of excess oil and dirt, and dry out the bumps to free entrapped ingrowing hairs.  The use of tweezers to try and pull out these hairs becomes unnecessary. Other products heal and repair damaged skin as well as brighten skin blemished by scars and excessive exposure to the sun. There are products that deal with severe cases of shaving bumps, even those stubborn back-of-the-head ones.

There is a new Bump Zapper specifically aimed at women for dealing with, and quickly eliminating, those annoying and painful razor bumps on the bikini like, under the arms, legs and face.

With these anti-bumps products there is no need for expensive, time-consuming visits to beauty clinics.

These Bump Zappers have been available in the United States for about ten years where they are well received and very popular. Until recently these products were available to UK customers only by mail order from the United States. The good news is that they are now available in the UK exclusively online at www.bumpterminator.co.uk where there is more information on every product.  UK customers can now save on high shipping costs from the US.  Their orders are also delivered much more quickly.  They are certainly worth a try.
