European Wax Center Franchise Opens in Albuquerque
European Wax Center (EWC) is a national franchise specializing in upscale, full Body Waxing recognized by its guests as the premier industry leader in providing the Ultimate Wax Experience. Franchise owner Ron Guthrie is proud to have opened a European Wax Center in Albuquerque, the first EWC franchise in the state of New Mexico. He says that Albuquerque is called the land of enchantment, as the opportunity to grow a business in the area is huge.
Guthrie started his career with Office Depot when the company had just three locations. As a district manager, he helped grow the company to more than 1,000 stores nationwide. He settled in the Houston area where he resides today. Guthrie then discovered his passion for business management and marketing when he bought into the Massage Envy franchise and opened three locations in Houston. After hearing the great success of European Wax Center, he opened his first EWC location in Houston and quickly opened his second in Albuquerque.
By bringing the first European Wax Center to New Mexico, Guthrie is able to visit his parents more frequently and bring the best waxing in Albuquerque, NM to the local community. The transition to becoming a franchisee in Albuquerque was easy for Guthrie, as the manager of his Houston European Wax Center transferred to Albuquerque, her hometown as well.
As a member of the Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce, Guthrie is excited to integrate European Wax Center more into the community through bridal and fashion shows, health and fitness events, and Chamber events. Guthrie has also been happy to participate in many of the University of New Mexico Lobo events, and he hopes to continue to build relationships with the college community and surrounding neighborhoods.
Guthrie believes the waxing services and exclusive retail sell themselves. “European Wax Center is so successful because the wax is so unique; the type of quality compared to other waxes is unparallel,” he says. “Beyond quality, it is a strip-less wax with a cooler melting point that only sticks to the hair and not the skin, providing a less painful service.
